My son is 6 years old. I am homeschooling him and he is having continued difficulty with the alphabet. He cannot sound words out and has difficulty with knowing the correct letters. Do you think he is to old for this program? My oldest daughter has auditory processing difficulties and I think he might have the same problem. Is this program for us??

What will work with one child is highly variable. Most children who are having difficulty learning to read are generally weak in the auditory skills. But just about the only way to overcome is to practice. Try our book, perhaps with the CD-ROM, that is all I can suggest. I have tested it many of my patients and it seems to work well them. But I can't promise it will work for you. It is returnable, of course. Best, M. Levin

One of my children has auditory difficulties and has been unable to read. She is now seven and very excited about what she is learning with the reading lesson. She is on lesson 5 and feeling very comfortable. In my reading, I came across a computer program called "Earobics." She works on this for ten minutes four times a week. I have seen a dramatic improvement in her ability to hear the sounds and thus, to read.

I am a teacher and I bought the program to teach my six year old son to read. So far, I have found the program to be amazing. My son showed little interest in learning to read and I figured it was due to a lack of confidence. We have completed up to lesson five and I have noticed a huge change. He is actually reading. At some point, your child will just know what to do so stick with the program.

I'm homeschooling my daughter. For reading program, we are using this site beestar. It is curriculum-based from 1st grade to 8th grade. I like the simple presentation: text has nice simple fonts, the pictures and graphs are to the point not distracting and stories are interesting. DD supports this online way and learns quickly. Hope it helps! Lisa
