Hi I was just wondering weather my eldest daughter turning 6 has a learning difficulty. I would hate to leave a problem until she gets older as it is better to be caught early. My daughter is currently on Lesson 13 of the reading lesson. She is reading, but I have noticed that she somtimes get confused between b/d and u/n(less often) and M/W I have also noticed on a rare occation(i am pointing with my finger) she will end up on a nother line. I also find that I will tell her a sound and then a momnet later she comes back to the sound and she can't remember it. Along with this she has a negative attitude towards school and says she doesn't like reading. I think she is very frustrated. She is a very creative girl and will make things I would never have thought of making, she is full of lovely original ideas. She also can remember after a lesson at school the life cycle of a butterfly and come and tell us all about it. (So she is not stupid) I am going to be having the usual begining of the year meeting (first week of October) with her new teacher to discuss her goals for the year, and thought maybe I should discuss this with her. My daughter has just started her year 1 year of school (think it is equivalent to Grade 1 in the States). I have heard that if a child does have something like 'dyslexia' here in the UK it has to be diagosed before the child will recieve help.... Anyway please let me know what you think. Regards Jeanette Gordon

Yes My daughter is now 7 years old and i have found out what her problem was.
Visual stress and a problem with her eye tracking.....this leads to her being unable to focus proerly on the words in front of her, well they say that with time the eye traking should come right, we are waiting for an appointment for her to see a specialist sothat she can get special eye exercises.
I am replying to this as it might help someone else.....
